Wealth Management Built On Three Decades Of Experience
Ed McDonough began working with clients and investments in 1987. In 1999 he left the wirehouse world and founded McDonough Capital Management as an independent Registered Investment Adviser in Orlando. That independence still shapes how the firm operates: advice is delivered through a fee-based advisory relationship rather than driven by product sales quotas.
Today the team serves physicians, attorneys, CPAs, business owners, corporate executives, Lockheed Martin engineers, young professionals, and retirees throughout Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Lake counties. Much of the firm's growth has come through client referrals.
What clients get is a single coordinated plan. Investment management, retirement income sequencing, tax-aware strategy, equity compensation decisions, and estate coordination are handled together by people who talk to each other, rather than split across four professionals who never meet.
A Multi-Generational Approach To Wealth Management
Good planning outlasts any single meeting, and often any single advisor. Built on three decades of experience, the firm pairs Ed McDonough's established expertise with Shannon McDonough's team leadership, giving clients continuity of advice and a team that can guide their family for years to come.

Why An Orlando Advisor Makes A Difference
Living and planning in Florida changes the math. The figures below come from the IRS and the Social Security Administration, and each affects how an Orlando household should plan.
Florida State Income Tax Rate
Florida levies no personal state income tax, which shapes Roth conversion timing, retirement withdrawal sequencing, and relocation planning differently than in higher-tax states. Coordinating those moves is where local guidance earns its keep.
Florida Constitution, Article VII; Florida Department of Revenue2026 IRA Contribution Limit
The traditional and Roth IRA contribution limit for 2026, with an additional $1,100 catch-up for those age 50 and older. Deciding which account to fund, and in what order, is a plan-level question.
IRS Notice 2025-67Maximum Monthly Benefit At Full Retirement Age
The maximum Social Security benefit for a worker retiring at full retirement age in 2026, up from $4,018 in 2025 after the 2.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment. Most households receive far less, which is why claiming timing and portfolio income planning matter.
SSA, 2026 Cost-of-Living Adjustment Fact SheetPlanning Horizon At Age 65
A 65-year-old today has a life expectancy that extends roughly two decades on average, and often longer. A plan has to fund a retirement that can last as long as a career.

Clear answers about working with a financial advisor in Orlando and what to expect from McDonough Capital Management.
What does a financial advisor in Orlando do?
A financial advisor helps you build and manage a plan for your investments, retirement income, taxes, and estate. At McDonough Capital Management, an independent Registered Investment Adviser in Orlando, those pieces are coordinated under one plan by the same team you meet with over time, rather than divided among separate professionals who never speak to each other.
How much money do I need to work with a financial advisor?
There is no single answer that fits every household, and the right starting point depends on the complexity of your situation rather than a single number. The best way to find out whether the firm is a fit is to request a Private Strategy Session and talk through your goals. There is no obligation to move accounts.
What is the difference between a financial advisor and a financial planner?
The terms overlap. A financial planner typically focuses on building a comprehensive plan across retirement, tax, and estate goals, while a financial advisor may also manage investments and other accounts. At McDonough Capital Management both roles sit with one team, and two of the firm's professionals hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification.
How is a financial advisor at the firm compensated?
Advisory services are provided through a fee-based advisory relationship, and securities are offered through Osaic Wealth, Inc., Member FINRA/SIPC. Because the firm is a hybrid, some services are advisory and some involve securities offered through the broker-dealer. Your specific costs and the capacity in which the advisor acts are detailed in Form CRS and Form ADV, both linked on this site.
How do I check a financial advisor's background before hiring one?
You can check the background of the firm and its financial professionals on FINRA's BrokerCheck at brokercheck.finra.org. You can also review Form ADV Part 1, Form ADV Part 2A and 2B, and Form CRS, all of which are linked in the disclosures on this website.
Which Orlando areas does the firm serve?
The office is in Southwest Orlando near Dr. Phillips and Bay Hill, and the firm works with clients across the greater Orlando metro, including Winter Park, Windermere, Lake Nona, Winter Garden, Maitland, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Celebration, Oviedo, and Kissimmee. Persons associated with the firm may only transact business in states in which they are properly registered or exempt from registration.
How do I schedule a meeting with an advisor?
You can request a Private Strategy Session using the form on this page, call the office at 407-248-9647, or book a time directly on the firm's online calendar. Submitting a form or requesting a meeting does not create an advisory relationship.
